Global
Side Tone Frequency The frequency of the Morse code tone.
Morse text in uppercase This will switch the text output from lowercase to uppercase.
Wrap Morse texts with vvv<ka><ar> Morsed text will begin with „vvv<ka>“, followed by the session’s Morse text, and end with „<ar>“. Advantage of selecting this is a bit more „lead time“ and you get an idea of how fast the following Morse code will be.
Type of Morse key You can connect a hardware Morse key or paddles to the phone and use it for sending Morse code. You can also use an on-screen Morse key. This option allows you to choose between a straight key and paddles. The option affects both on-screen and hardware keys.
Paddle polarity If the left key is dit and the right one is dah („.-„) or the other way around („-.“).
Learning strategy Dahdidahdit actively teaches Morse code by observing the error rate of the user and adapting the teaching accordingly. The learning strategy allows to choose the framework used for teaching. The following strategies are available:
-
- Dahdidahdit
-
- Word Koch
It is absolutely possible to change the strategy every two minutes and Dahdidahdit will try to do something not entirely stupid (e.g. when you learned characters using Word Koch and you switch to Dahdidahdit, you will not have to re-learn every characters but start with the first Koch letter not already learned) but it’s certainly better to choose one strategy and stick with it until all characters are learned.
Workarounds
Initial playback pause On some devices there is a delay when audio playback is started until the first sound is audible. This setting allows to configure some lead time so that e.g. when using Head copy training you can actually hear the full first character and not just the last dah of it or worse. Try to set this as small as possible so it interferes not too much with the back-and-forth of the Head copy training.
